Facilities
Both
conventional and advanced cutting-edge research facilities are available to
drive the research hypothesis laid by BuG ReMeDEE consortium.
- Genome Editing – Latest state of the art genome editing tools and techniques are
available to manipulate the genetic make-up of model microorganisms. Facilities
for both random mutagenesis and targeted mutagenesis are available to perform
specific tasks viz. Signature Tag Mutagenesis, Site-directed mutagenesis etc.
Likewise, conventional facilities for homologous and heterologous expression of
genes, conjugate development etc. are also available. Efforts are underway to
develop the modern science technique viz. CRISPR to match with the research
scenario in the field of genome editing.
- Protein
Engineering – Facilities for both wet-lab and computational approach are
available to engineer the protein of interest. Subscription is available for
in-silico tools such as Material Studio, Discovery Studio, Chimera for Quantum
Mechanics, Molecular Dynamics and protein modeling studies. Basic research
facilities pertaining to the production, purification, concentration and
characterization of protein are also available.
- Electrochemistry
– Electrochemical
workstation and infrastructure for microbial electrochemical investigations including
biofilm formation, microbial electrocatalysis/electrosynthesis, and
electroanalytical investigations.
- Analytics
– To analyze the reaction intermediates and metabolites facilities such as
Liquid Chromatography-Mass spectrometry (LC-MS), HPLC, Gas chromatography are
available. Analytical facility such as Fluorescent Microscopy is available to
characterize the microbe under different reaction conditions. Further to
visualize the microbial pili, microbial biofilm and derivatives such as
biopolymers, Scanning Electron Microscopy and TEM are available on campus.
