What is SERC?
Surface Engineering Research Center (SERC) is a new state-funded research collaborative under the theme of Surface Engineering, focused on the development of advanced surface treatment and coating technology through interdisciplinary collaborative research. Research activities are focused on biomedical, energy, environment, and defense applications.
Who We Are
Ten experienced faculty/staff from three South Dakota universities (South Dakota State University, University of South Dakota, and South Dakota Mines) representing five academic disciplines with complementary expertise in three areas (surface engineering technology, advanced materials and manufacturing, and advanced characterization) critical to the development and application of surface engineering technologies.
