Art + Engineering (A+E)
Many engineers are fantastic artists. This unique program, supported through a grant from the National Science Foundation, is an opportunity to combine your creativity and engineering skills with metals, glass, and ceramics to make products that are not
only functional, but beautiful.
As part of our bachelor of science degree in metallurgical engineering, the A+E program provides an exploration of color theory, ceramic formulation, glass blowing, metal casting, welding, and blacksmithing – all in a hands-on curriculum.
You will work with an artist and our engineers to develop STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) influenced design projects with our industry partners, like Nucor Steel, Boeing, Ball Aerospace, and more.
