The South Dakota Mines Parade of Trees kicks off today. The theme this
year is Parade of No Trees.
Community members are invited to vote on their
favorite displays at the annual holiday Parade of Trees from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 30 - Dec. 1, and 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2,
in the Surbeck Center at South Dakota
Mines. This year, the theme is Parade of No Trees and features displays
created by the campus community.
This year, like every year, participants are
striving to have the best display. The public vote will distinguish which team
wins the “People’s Choice Award.” The winners of each category will be
announced on Friday after the voting has closed.
The Parade of Trees is sponsored by the Office of
Student Engagement at Mines. Each display in the parade has been created
by an organization or department on campus. The displays range from a Newton’s
Cradle from Society of Physics Students to a display of toilet paper from
Residence Life.
