The Museum of Geology at South Dakota Mines invites
the public to celebrate the 14th annual National Fossil Day from 9
a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023. The event includes visiting
paleontologists from around the region who will be on hand to discuss the
importance of fossils and paleontology.
The day will feature booths from some of the
museum’s partners, including Badlands National Park, Agate Fossil Beds, and the
Mammoth Site, with fun activities for all ages and information on the sites.
National Fossil Day is held each year to “highlight the scientific and
educational value of paleontology and the importance of preserving fossils for
future generations.”
