Celebrate National Fossil Day at the Museum of Geology

The Museum of Geology will celebrate National Fossil Day from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023.

The Museum of Geology at South Dakota Mines invites the public to celebrate the 14th annual National Fossil Day from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023. The event includes visiting paleontologists from around the region who will be on hand to discuss the importance of fossils and paleontology.

The day will feature booths from some of the museum’s partners, including Badlands National Park, Agate Fossil Beds, and the Mammoth Site, with fun activities for all ages and information on the sites.

National Fossil Day is held each year to “highlight the scientific and educational value of paleontology and the importance of preserving fossils for future generations.”
