SD Mines Director of Facilities & Risk Management Named President of National Board

Jerilyn Roberts

RAPID CITY, SD (August 19, 2019) — Jerilyn Roberts, director of facilities & risk management at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, was recently named president of the national organization Campus Safety Health and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA).

CSHEMA supports and educates campus-based environmental health and safety professionals “to empower and improve the profession in campus environments.” CSHEMA provides training and support to safety professionals in higher education across the country.

“It has become more important than ever to have diligent campus safety protocols in place. Jerilyn works hard to ensure our campus is prepared for any potential risk,” says SD Mines President Jim Rankin. “We think it says a lot about the caliber of risk management professional that Jerilyn is to have her named president of an organization like CSHEMA.”

Roberts has been a member of CSHEMA since 2007. She has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from SD Mines and a master’s degree from Mines in engineering/industrial management. She has been with SD Mines for 13 years; six years as the director of facilities & risk management.

“I’m proud to serve as president of CSHEMA to be able to give back to the profession. It’s a fantastic organization and offers great support and networking opportunities to higher education organizations like ours as we strive to keep our campuses as safe as possible,” Roberts says.
