SD Mines Hosts 7th Annual Homecoming Week Run in Honor of President Wharton

The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology’s CAMP program will hold the 7th annual Wharton Challenge 5k/10k run on Saturday, Sep. 9, 2017. The event was first held in 2011, and then renamed in 2012 after the passing of SD Mines President, Robert Wharton.  He had a passion for many outdoor adventures including running.

Registration is from 8-9 a.m., with the race starting at 9 a.m.  Both races begin at Founders Park in Rapid City. The 5k runs straight to the Quad in the center of the Mines campus. The 10k loops up M hill before ending on the Quad. Registration is $20 for all Mines students, faculty and staff as well as current Black Hills Runners Club Members, community at large is priced at $25. 

Awards for top finishers and swag for all that register are provided.

Early registration can be made at the CAMP office in the Civil Mechanical building at Mines or online.
