Celebrate Mole Day at South Dakota Mines

South Dakota Mines will celebrate Mole Day on Oct. 23.

 

Mole Day is recognized worldwide on Oct. 23 from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m. to commemorate Avogadro's Number, 6.02 x 1023, a basic measuring unit in chemistry.

On Oct. 23, 2023, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., 100 middle school students from Custer, Red Shirt and Pine Ridge will come to South Dakota Mines for a Mole Day celebration hosted by the Department of Chemistry, Biology and Health Sciences. Students will participate in lab projects at 10 a.m. and noon in the Chemical and Biological Engineering and Chemistry (CBEC) building rooms114, 116,1107 and 209. At 1 p.m., the American Chemical Society at South Dakota Mines will present its Chemistry Magic Show in CBEC 2228.

The event is sponsored by the West River Area Health Education Center.
