While all undergraduate students at South Dakota Mines major in one of 20 engineering and science disciplines, they must also take courses in our core curriculum so that they write and communicate effectively and understand the human experience and the world around them through the study of the arts, humanities and social sciences.

  • Challenging undergraduate and graduate academic programs in science and engineering.
  • Small classes taught by professors -- not graduate students -- as well as a wide variety of academic mentoring and advising services to help you succeed.
  • Hands-on and real-world projects rather than just computer simulations and book work.
  • Professional development opportunities beyond the classroom including highly rated internship and co-op experiences.
  • Opportunities to participate in research for both graduate and undergraduate students.
  • A friendly, team-oriented environment where students and faculty are committed to helping one another succeed.

You'll discover an exceptional engineering and science university that is big enough to have something for everyone and small enough that you get personal attention and the opportunity to participate and learn with faculty who know your name.

You can find  visitor resources for prospective students in our Admissions section and information for other visitors in our Student Life Section.
