Using Desire2Learn (D2L)
Click here for a brief view of some of the new enhancements and here for a more in-depth view created by Desire2Learn.
Desire2Learn (D2L) is the South Dakota Board of Regents' official course management software tool. Training for faculty is available by contacting Brad O'Brien by email or by calling 394-1234.
Log on to D2L at https://d2l.sdbor.edu
D2L Username for students: WebAdvisor Username (customarily your first initial, middle initial and full last name)
D2L Username for Faculty/Staff: WebAdvisor Username (first initial, middle initial, last name)
D2L Password: Students must use your @mines.sdsmt.edu email address OR your Home University email to get your password.
Faculty should use their @sdsmt email, unless their home university is not South Dakota Mines. In that case, faculty should use the email address associated with their home university.
NEW TO DESIRE2LEARN?
Whether you are student or Faculty, the very FIRST time you use D2L, use the "I'm new to D2L" link on the log in page. This link provides you with instructions on how to obtain your initial password, but it's a bit confusing so review these instructions first. Once your account is activated an email will be sent to your @MINES.sdsmt.edu email account (for students and @sdsmt.edu for Faculty) with further instructions.
FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?
If you have forgotten your D2L password use the "What is my password" link on the log on page https://d2l.sdbor.edu. This link will provide you with instructions on how to reset your D2L password.
A FEW MORE THINGS:
Not all courses at South Dakota Mines use D2L, so you may not see all your courses on your D2L portal page
Course in D2L are not visible to students until the official start date of the course as listed in WebAdvisor
