Brief Bio

Dr. Ljalem Abrha is a materials scientist and battery researcher specializing in advanced energy-storage materials, electrochemistry, and materials characterization. His research focuses on next-generation batteries, including lithium-sulfur, lithium/sodium-metal, and solid-state battery systems, with an emphasis on material designing, optimization and performance improvement.
He currently serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow at South Dakota Mines, where he conducts research in battery energy storage and advanced materials. His interests also include machine-learning-assisted materials discovery, high-throughput experimentation, and autonomous laboratory technologies.

Teaching

Dr. Abrha has taught undergraduate courses in Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Practical Organic Chemistry. He has also supervised undergraduate final-year projects and mentored graduate students in their research.
