Brief Bio
Bryce Tellmann is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities, Arts, and
Social Sciences at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. By turns rhetorician,
historian, and regionalist, his work focuses on the Northern Plains of North America,
attending to how discourse has shaped our understanding of this region in the past,
and how those understandings echo in the present. His work has been published in a
variety of journals, including the International Journal of Communication and Great
Plains Quarterly.
In addition to teaching public speaking and communication, Tellmann has presented
his work at regional, national, and international conferences. He has served as the
emcee for inaugurations, fundraisers, and the Order of the Engineer induction ceremony,
and frequently gives invited presentations for church and community groups.
Raised on a dairy farm in North Dakota, he now lives in Rapid City with his wife and
two daughters. He occasionally sits outside and talks to grass.
