Minors in areas such as languages, music, and finance are often complementary to an engineering or science degree. These are offered by other South Dakota Board of Regents universities and can be taken online. Students can enroll in these minors without separate application to the other university. The courses are recorded on your South Dakota Mines transcript.

*Degree seeking students may complete requirements for any minor at any South Dakota Regental university (South Dakota Mines, Black Hills State University, Dakota State University, Northern State University, South Dakota State University, or the University of South Dakota) that has been approved to grant that minor. This minor will be recorded on the transcript in conjunction with the degree/minor from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.  (Board of Regents Policy 2:29).
