Leroy and David Foster Preparation Laboratory

This facility is dedicated to the physical preparation (i.e., cleaning and stabilization) of geologic specimens, and their restoration and repair. The laboratory is equipped with a range of tools for preparation work, including air scribes and air abraders. With 24 workstations outfitted with hookups for electric and pneumatic equipment, this laboratory serves as research, teaching and training space for the Museum and can accommodate multiple projects simultaneously. Visitors are welcome to watch progress on a wide range of projects through large windows along one laboratory wall.

The James E. Martin Paleontology Research Laboratory is a research component of the SD Mines Museum of Geology.  It is not available for public tours.
