Writing Center
The Graduate Writing Center in Devereaux Library is open to all graduate students. You can schedule a
30-minute session to meet one-on-one with writing staff to get writing and
editing help on your thesis, dissertation, or course writing assignments.
The Center’s mission is to help you get better at reviewing
and editing your own writing. Staff will NOT proofread or edit long
documents for you, nor can they provide discipline-specific writing guidance.
Location: Deveraux Library Room LIB 216
Hours for Fall 2023/Spring 2024: Mon 1:30 - 5:00pm, Tues/Weds 1:00 - 5:00pm. Closed during midterms, finals, and winter break.
To schedule an appointment: Visit the Grad
Writing Center Scheduling Page (South Dakota Mines login required) Drop-ins are welcome but scheduled sessions have first priority.
What to bring: Bring a printed sample of your writing
(1 to 3 double-spaced pages) to work on your editing skills, OR bring an
electronic document already reviewed by your advisor/instructor to get advice
on addressing the comments.
