Welcome to Residence Life at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology! Over 850 students call our residence halls home while at SD Mines. We provide housing for all students who have graduated from high school in the past two years (

Spring Break Closing Information
All residence halls will close Saturday, March 5 at 12noon for Spring Break. Residence halls will reopen Sunday, March 13 at 8am. For complete information about Spring Break closing, please visit the Spring Break website.

Upperclass Housing Available for the 2016-2017 Academic Year!
With the addition of Placer Hall, Residence Life is excited to announce that housing for Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students will be available during the 2016-2017 academic year. Rocker Square I and Rocker Square II will be exclusively available for upperclass residents -- with the housing application going online Wednesday, March 23. PC Commons Courtyard Upgraded
The PC Commons Courtyard renovation has been completed! Students can now enjoy sitting outside in our renovated space--complete with fire pit. Upgrades also include bike shelters, all new furniture, and new landscaping.
Placer Hall: Opening Fall 2016
Residence Life is proud to announce the building of our newest residence hall -- Placer Hall. This new six-story building is being developed for second-year students and will offer 50 suite-style units, each with a living room and a bathroom. Half of the suites will consist of 2 double bedrooms, the other half of the suites will have 4 single bedrooms. Community lounges, kitchens and group study spaces will also be provided throughout the building. Placer Hall is being built by the SD Mines Foundation, who in turn, will lease the building back to the University. This new hall will put housing capacity at almost 1,100!
