Graduate Tuition and Related Costs
Master's programs require 30-33 credits for graduation and can be completed in 2 years (part time students may take longer to complete the degree). Most PhD programs require 72 credits, and can be completed within 4 years after completion of the BS degree.

*Annual rates are based on full time enrollment of 9 credits for fall semester and 9 credits for spring semester. Summer enrollment is optional and is not included in the estimates above.
Rates listed above include all standard tuition and fees except books. International students are assessed an international student fee of $100 each fall and spring semester, in addition to the credit costs above.
SD Mines undergraduates who remain in South Dakota for their graduate degree qualify for resident tuition status after completion of the bachelor’s degree (U.S. citizens and permanent residents only).
Minnesota residents are eligible for reciprocity benefits if you attend the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Your tuition and fees will be about the same as if you were attending a similar MN school. Reciprocity tuition rates are reviewed yearly, so students should directly contact SD Mines to determine the exact tuition rate.

For federal financial aid purposes, the ECOA Budgets for Full Time Graduate Students include tuition/fees, room/board, books/supplies, tablet PC rental and other miscellaneous costs for personal and travel expenses.
