Regardless of the type of scholarship that has been awarded from the School of Mines, students must maintain full time enrollment by enrolling for a
minimum of 12 School of Mines credit hours each semester (there are limited exceptions that students must discuss with the Financial Aid Director) and continue progress towards completion of their degree. For multi-year renewable scholarships, students must complete a minimum of 24 credit hours each academic year (fall, spring, summer) and maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative SDSM&T GPA
(unless your award letter states a lower GPA requirement).
For students receiving multi-year, renewable scholarships, if the required cumulative SDSM&T Grade Point Average is not maintained at the
end of any year in which funding is received, future years of eligibility will be revoked; however, students will be given the opportunity to appeal for
reason of extenuating circumstances.
Recipients of non-SDSM&T and State Scholarships (such as the SD Opportunity Scholarship) are advised to review carefully the
requirements of the scholarship to ensure they meet the continuing eligibility requirements.
