Plan Your Study Abroad

SD Mines students must have a 2.75 GPA to qualify for study abroad. Follow the checklist to help plan your study abroad. Download the checklist here.

Fill out the Study Abroad General Interest Form and visit with the Ivanhoe International Center. 
Download the Study Abroad Options Matrix - this spreadsheet is an example of how to evaluate different programs. The spreadsheet is located under the 'Forms' accordion. 

 Look through study abroad reference books and websites:

Research the following - use the Study Abroad Options Matrix as a guide:

  • Language of instruction
  • Classes you are interested in - choose more than you think
  • Cost of the program, what is covered and how much I expect to spend while abroad
  • Length of program
    • Time of Year it is available
    • Semester, trimester, summer, etc.
  • Application deadlines
  • Health Insurance
  • Passport and visa information
