Newsletter for K-12 Teachers

Students come to SD Mines for a great education in science and engineering, and go on to work at solving important problems across the nation and the globe.  But before any of that happens, a student’s interest in science or math is peaked early, and K-12 educators play a vital role in shaping the course of a life.  Here at Mines, we applaud the efforts of these important educators and partner with you in furthering STEM education.

SD Mines presents "Computational Astronomy" - a program to inspire local students to embrace science and mathematics. The program kicks off with a 2-day workshop for South Dakota middle and high school teachers. Cost is covered by a NASA grant but class is limited to 15 participants. Workshop will be held April 28-29, 2017, and repeated in October of 2017 and March of 2018.
