Returning Student Housing Selection: 2021-2022
Upperclass Housing: Rocker Square I & Rocker Square II
Upperclass housing (available to students who graduated from high school before January 2020) is available in Rocker Square I and Rocker Square II apartments for the 2021-2022 academic year. The online housing application for these spaces, available for Fall 2021, is available starting March 26, 2021. Housing spaces are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve
basis. Groups of students should submit applications within 48-hours of each other to ensure they are assigned together. Learn more about Rocker Square I and Rocker Square II by visiting these web pages.
Housing pricing for 2021-2022 is available online here. All applications require a $100 housing
application fee. The fee must be paid before housing is assigned (online or at the Student Accounts Office). Available spaces in the apartments typically include:

- 3 Rocker Square II 2-Bedroom Apartments (singles)
- 26 Rocker Square I 4-Bedroom Apartments (singles)

Current Students Required To Live On Campus
Per
South Dakota Board of Regents policy, all students who graduated from high school in 2020 or 2021 are required to live
on campus during the 2021-2022 academic year (unless a housing exemption has been applied for and approved). Current residents who graduated from high school in 2020 are guaranteed housing per the housing selection process for 2021-2022.
Fall 2021 Housing Placement Important Dates
- March
2: Lottery Numbers Emailed to Eligible Students (students required to live on campus)
- March 22-25: Housing Application Submission Period for students required to live on campus (submissions online via the online housing application)
- March 26: Housing Application Open to Upperclass students for Rocker Square I and Rocker Square II
Housing Selection: Important Details for Required Students
- All applications require a $100 housing application fee that must be submitted by March 25 (either online with credit/debit card or with cash/check in Student Accounts Office). Housing cannot be assigned without payment.
- Lottery numbers are issued to all students required to live on campus for the 2021-2022 academic year. These lottery numbers are randomly assigned.
- All current students required to live on campus for Fall 2021 must submit a housing application between March 22-25.
- Students may request to live together on the housing application (as a group). To be assigned as a group, all students must be listed on all applications. Most housing is in groups of 2 to 4 - we recommend creating a group of 4 for your housing application.
- Housing assignments will be assigned using the random lottery numbers assigned. Assignments are made starting with the lowest lottery numbers. For a group, assignments will be based on the lowest lottery number.

Special Accommodations
In limited circumstances, the University approves students for special housing accommodations based on medical need and/or disability status. If you have special needs that make it necessary to have a specific type of housing, please contact Disability
Services for further information. To download the special accommodations document, please visit the
Disability Services website. The form is due by March 25, 2021 for students submitting Fall 2021 Housing Applications.
Housing Exemption Information
Per SD Board of Regents policy, all students who have graduated from high school in the past two years are required to live in campus housing. Current students who are required to live on campus next year may apply for an exemption from this policy by
March 25, 2021. In general, housing exemptions are granted only for the following reasons: living in approved Greek Life housing, living with parents or guardians in the Rapid City area, living with a spouse, or living with dependent children. More
